Deshawn Hall verbally committed to the Auburn Tigers over Michigan, Penn State and others last month once he felt at home On The Plains.
Hall is a 2027 four-star wide receiver, and he attends Prattville High School in Alabama. He feels like Auburn is the right place for him because of the way the people in the program make him feel.
"It’s the people that make the difference between a house and a home," Hall told Touchdown Auburn. "Auburn is a place that didn’t take long at all to feel like home. Another thing is I truly believe that the coaches around me can help me maximize my potential. I feel like they have not only the want and desire for me to be my best, but they also have the tools and skills that they need to help me get there."
The Auburn commit always felt he was destined to play college football in his home state, and the Tigers made Hall feel Auburn was the place for him to fulfill his destiny.
"I’ve always kind of looked at myself as an in-state kid," Hall said. "It was always a fantasy to be able to play at Alabama or Auburn. In the beginning, I always imagined on the court, but when my career switched to mainly football, Auburn separated themselves from Bama majorly. On top of that, I really knew after my second week of official visits that Auburn was definitely a top two place in my decision next to Penn State, and during the following days they just continued to separate themselves, showing me more and more how much they wanted me there. So with me already wanting to be there and them really showing me how much they wanted me, it just matched perfectly."
Hall is currently building his bond with his fellow Auburn commits through a group message.
"We have two group chats," Hall said. "We talk daily, just building that bond so that we’re already tighter than the normal classes when we arrive in January."
At 6-foot-5 and 190 pounds, the 2027 recruit’s basketball background literally leaps off his junior film. He is a very hard cover in jump-ball situations. He is also able to create separation in impressive fashion for a guy his size. Hall is looking to continue to improve this fall.
"My main focuses have been getting faster and more fluid," Hall said. "Along with that, I’ve been working on getting in and out of my breaks as fast as possible and being able to get off the ball without my quarterback having any doubt about me getting knocked off my route in any sort."
Heading into his senior season at Prattville, Hall feels motivated by a variety of factors.
"A thing that keeps me motivated every day is waking up in this beautiful world that God had created," Hall said. "He blessed me with not only a great family with a loving mother and dad, but he also granted me the ability to be able to provide for me and my family on a level that many can’t. I will not take that for granted, and I’m going to continue to elevate on top of the raw skill he blessed me with. My goal is not to be the best wide receiver to play at Auburn, but to be the best wide receiver to touch a football. God has already given me a head start with my 6’5 frame and the athleticism; now it’s up to me to polish my skill and do the things necessary to be that.
