Auburn football's wide receiver coach Kodi Burns feels the conversation surrounding the Auburn Tigers having multiple USF transfers is a bit overblown.
Keshaun Singleton, Jeremiah Koger, Chas Nimrod, Christian Neptune and Kory Pettigrew transferred from USF to Auburn and followed Alex Golesh. As a result, the wideouts left the American Athletic Conference to play in the Southeastern Conference.
It is natural for someone to assume a transition to a Power Four program is one where a player may see an uptick in competition. However, Burns feels too much is being made about what it will take to transition to the SEC.
"I think a little bit of it is overblown," Burns said. "If you do look at the schedule from our team last year, we did play SEC teams, and it worked out pretty good. Those guys do have experience from that standpoint. Really the biggest difference is... up front. There is really good skill guys everywhere. I don't care what level you're at. What separates the SEC from everybody else is the interior o-line and d-line. On the outside, there may be some All-Americans and All-SEC players on the outside, but there is good skill players everywhere. At the end of the day, go out there and play ball. We ain't scared of nobody. We about to roll up and play ball."
Burns coached all five wide receivers last season as the USF wide receiver coach. The Bulls beat Florida last year 18-16 when Golesh was USF's head football coach.
