Alvin Henderson graduated from Elba High School as one of the most accomplished running backs in Alabama high school football history.

Henderson signed with the Tigers as a four-star running back, and he held more than 70 college football offers before choosing to spend his college football days with the Tigers.

The Alabama native still plans to be a weapon out of the backfield for the Tigers in the future, but in the meantime, he may get his first established role on special teams.

"Alvin Henderson's another one that's actually stacked a lot of good days here, which I know is exciting for a lot of people in the state to hear," Auburn special teams' coach Jacob Bronowski said. "So. I'm really excited for him. When the lights have come on so far in our compete days, he's responded in the right way that you want to see."

Auburn's running back coach Larry Porter praised Henderson for choosing to put in effort to help the Tigers outside of playing running back.

"Well, credit to Coach J Bro," Porter said. "He does a phenomenal job. But I tell those guys all the time, just based off of what we just got through talking about, about the depth chart, right? Well, again, you can't play four, five, six guys every game. But you can on special teams. So if you want a bus ticket, you know, whether it's the running back room or special teams, you better fight to earn that every single day. And I encourage every guy in my room, from Cobb to whoever, to have a presence and make plays on special teams. And I think those guys have kind of welcomed that challenge and embraced it. And as a result, Alvin, he made some plays out there."

Henderson looks as if he will have a shot at making an impact for the Tigers in year two, even if it is not out of the backfield early on.
