Auburn football trails Florida at halftime 20-17 at home.

Here is what the Tigers need to do to overcome this small deficit.

Keep Byrum Brown in rhythm.

Byrum Brown and the Auburn offense were struggling to get into rhythm in this one. A lot of the Tigers' struggles early in this one began with Brown being out of rhythm. The Tigers did not pick up a first down until the second quarter. Once the Tigers got Brown in rhythm, Auburn appeared to move the football up the field with relative ease on their first scoring drive of the game and the Tigers' second scoring drive that resulted in a touchdown.

Tougher Against The Run

The Florida Gators were able to run the football pretty effect throughout a good portion of the first half. With one of the best running backs in the country at their disposal, the Gators can be dangerous on the ground when Jaden Baugh has an opportunity to get rolling, but he is not the only Gator running back who is having success in this one. Duke Clark is as well.

Limit Explosives On Backend

The backend of the Auburn defense has been susceptible to giving up big plays down the field. This continued in the first half against Florida. Baylor gave the Tigers problems in the passing game down the field, and Philo is having success at times doing the same thing although its is not at the same pace DJ Lagway operated at in the first half against Auburn in Baylor.

Need More Consistency On Defense

Consistency of defense is something the Auburn Tigers were lacking against Florida. It was a lot of up and down plays for the Tigers' defensive unit. Often times when they made a stop behind the line of scrimmage, the Gators would come back in short order and pick up yards. Then the random down the field explosive will creep in. The Tigers will need more consistent play out of this unit in the second half.
