Auburn football's offensive coordinator Joel Gordon wants the Tigers to be able to run the football more effectively coming out of its BYE week.

Auburn's rushing numbers as a whole are not horrific due to what Byrum Brown can do with his feet. Brown leads the Tigers in rushing with 344 yards and four touchdowns. However, his carries are almost double the amount of the Tigers' starting running back Jeremiah Cobb.

Gordon confirmed a commitment to be running the football with Auburn's running backs on Monday.

“I think every game that we've played we’ve tried to give it an opportunity to get going. ," Gordon said. "We didn’t get out to a very good start in the last game. (We) didn't have great field position early on, and to be honest with you, that's when you need to be able to run it, to dig yourself out of a hole. We weren’t able to do it. It took us a while to kind of adjust a little bit to what we were getting structurally from the defense. (We) got some things that we weren’t necessarily expecting going into it. We made a couple of adjustments at halftime and were able to do a much better job in the second half, obviously. At the end of the day, we have to be able to overcome whatever it is. We’re backed up, its noisy, whatever it is, it’s going to be that way every single week. We have to continue to find the best things for our players to be able to be in situations where they can go and execute, and when we put them in those situations, we have to execute. It’s top to bottom. We’re going to try to run the ball every single week. That's not going to change. We have to be much more consistent across the board. When there are break downs, whether it’s the offensive line, someone at the point of attack, if you can’t be consistent to know your job, play with good technique, play with physicality at the point of attack, in this league you aren’t going to run it very well. Hopefully, the time that we have spent in the last week trying to get better and improve at those things, we see improvement.”

Auburn is set to go up against one of the best run defenses in college football on Saturday when the Tigers take on the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens.
