The Auburn defense has to put another uninspiring performance behind itself ahead of the Tigers taking on Ole Miss in Oxford on Saturday.
Lane Kiffin and LSU had a lot of success early against the Tigers last Saturday. Sam Leavitt threw for 387 yards and three touchdowns against DJ Durkin and company, and Auburn gave up 165 yards on the ground as LSU defeated Auburn 38-17.
Alex Golesh is hopeful his squad will bounce back on defense ahead of another tough offensive test with Ole Miss next up for the Tigers.
The Rebels are led by dynamic quarterback Trinidad Chambliss. Golesh feels his ability to be a special player makes the Ole Miss offense very challenging to stop.
“Offensively, the quarterback is as special of a player as there is," Golesh said. "You kind of watch it from afar. Then you turn the film on and that is a dynamic, special, special football player. He creates in every way. Creates with his feet. The arm strength is real. The accuracy is real. The ability to extend plays and push the ball down field is real. The skill positions are really, really good. Running back is one of the best in the country. They do a good job up front. Do a good job schematically, use tempo. For our defense, this will be the second week in a row, similar offensively in terms of tempo. Similar offensively in terms of really good quarterbacks. It'll be a big challenge for us."
Chambliss has thrown for 1,926 yards and 16 touchdowns this season. The Ole Miss offense is averaging 432 yards a game.
Auburn will travel to Ole Miss on Saturday. Kickoff for the matchup is set for 11 a.m., and the game will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
