MJ Evans is verbally committed to Auburn, and he recently shut down his recruitment.
Evans is a senior at Spain Park High School in Alabama, and he currently garners a four-star rating from multiple recruiting sites. He considers his recruitment to Auburn to be a lock after several teams picked up their push for him.
"I recently shut it down, but Alabama was picking up," Evans said. "Florida was picking up a lot. Those were really the main two schools."
Evans' shutting down his recruitment has not stopped schools like Alabama from staying in contact with him. The Crimson Tide's defensive line coach Freddie Roach was in attendance when Evans and Spain Park took on James Clemens on Thursday.
"He hit me up and let me know he was going to be here," Evans said. "It was good to see him because we got a great relationship, but he knows that I'm locked in. I'll be back in Auburn for the Arkansas game."
At 6-foot-5 and 245 pounds, Evans fits the mold for the type of defensive linemen a lot of top programs are going after at the moment. He is versatile, has great length and can get after the football with great backside pursuit. He is looking to continue getting better this fall at Spain Park.
