Auburn football's head coach Alex Golesh is locked in ahead of the Tigers' game against Florida on Saturday.
Golesh has a longstanding relationship with the Gators head football coach Jon Sumrall. However, this week he is not focused on their friendship.
The Auburn head coach was asked about his relationship with Sumrall on Monday.
"He said we were friends?" Golesh asked the reporter. "Not this week; we're not. I got a ton of respect for Jon. We were both assistants in this league at the same time, and he did a great job at Troy, high end job at Troy, did a high end job at Tulane. Got a ton of respect for how he works, A ton of respect for who he is. I think he does it the right way, competes like crazy. I got a lot of respect for him. This week, don't care."
The last time Sumrall and Golesh went at it as head coaches was in 2024 when Tulane defeated USF 45-10.
Florida and Auburn will get after one another Saturday in Jordan-Hare Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
