Running the football was not pretty for Auburn against Vanderbilt for most of the game, but the Tigers did not abandon the run game.
The Tigers' commitment to running the football paid off late when Jeremiah Cobb broke free to seal the game. The running back said he could feel the line of scrimmage starting to move in a positive direction for the Tigers as the game came to an end.
"Just moving people out of the way and everybody being detailed, everybody getting in a routine, and then it finally opened up and just like getting a feel for it, It makes it easier," Cobb said.
Cobb bounced the game-sealing run out wide once he saw the Vanderbilt defense crash in.
“I saw everybody crash in like it was about to be an inside zone, and I saw that I had the corner to beat, and I was like I can make this a big play and keep it in bounds," Cobb told reporters. "I can seal the game with this run, so I did use my speed down there. I did it for my team.”
The Tigers defeated Vanderbilt 21-15 to pick up their first SEC win of the season.
Auburn will be back in action Saturday when the Tigers travel to Tennessee.
